It was another early Saturday morning and members of the Rotary clubs from Districts 7430 and 7450 woke up early and drove out to King of Prussia for a training session about The Rotary Foundation (TRF) and Future Vision.  Through the last several years, the leadership of our district has been preparing for July 2013 when Future Vision becomes the way of life for TRF.  In order for our club to qualify for participating in grants in the upcoming Rotary Year, we needed to have at least one member attend the training session.  This year, I was happy to have Russ Bragg, our Club Foundation Chair, join me in preparing for the upcoming changes.

With Future Vision changes, the grant process will be simplified with the end result being more money becoming available at the district level along with more control given the district leadership in its distribution to the clubs.  This makes it even more critical for our Club to continue with contributions to both the annual and permanent funds.  An example of how this has worked in the past, when we decided to undertake the Safety Town project, our Club leadership decided to apply for and received a District Simplified Grant for $2500.  Today we have about that much money left in the Safety Town fund which is being used to finish the welcome sign, thank-you sign and a Rotary commemorative plaque which will be installed at the entrance to Safety Town.

Every year grants are available to clubs to pursue and use in our community to make a difference.  Consider this, the mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.  The Foundation is a not-for-profit corporation supported solely by voluntary contributions from Rotarians and friends of the Foundation who share its vision of a better world.  So as a Club who contributes to The Rotary Foundation (not to be confused with the Warminster Rotary Foundation which is our own 501(c)(3) we are setting up to fund scholarships in our community), we can access monies to fund projects both within Warminster and beyond!  With The Rotary Foundation's mission statement in mind, we can let our imaginations run wild with ideas on making a difference in our community knowing that we have the full support of Rotary International behind us.
